A figure skater had an assignment due and had to ask for an extension...but is competing in the Olympics a good enough excuse?
This is a sweet story…Maddie Schizas is a Canadian figure skater…and goes to college in Ontario.
Well, she mixed up the deadline for an assignment, thinking she had until Sunday to work on it instead of it being due on Friday.
So she wrote her professor an email, explaining the situation, “Hi Prof, I am a student in your Sociology course and am wondering if I could get a short extension on this week's reflection. I was competing in the Olympic Games yesterday and thought the reflection was due Sunday, not Friday.”
What do you think? Did she get the extension?
Here is the professor’s response:
"Yes, in the circumstances, an extension is perfectly fine. Focus on the competition right now, and submit it directly to me when it is done. The triple lutz triple toe combo is a pretty hard move to master, but you've got this. Good luck the whole country is rooting for you and your teammates."
Unfortunately, Maddie finished 6th in the team event…but she has one more chance to medal tomorrow! Then, she can focus on her homework.
