If you live on the west side, you may have already seen Waymo self-driving cars…they’ve been testing them in Santa Monica.
Well, Waymo announced a major expansion across LA, increasing the range of their self-driving cars to 79 square miles…as far east as Downtown LA, as far north as Hollywood and as far south as Playa Vista.
As much as this may scare us…demand is through the roof! They only have 50 cars in LA right now…the waitlist to become a member…is 150,000 people!
But some online reviews are complaining because Waymo is MORE expensive than Uber and Lyft…which seems odd…since there is no driver to pay. But Waymo points out there is no tipping for their service…
It all makes me nervous…but the Waymo CEO says he puts his 4-year-old niece into a driverless car and lets her ride around Santa Monica…I mean…really?
