One of our very favorite shows was almost a whole lot different... could you imagine if Jack Pearson in This Is Us was not played by Milo Ventimiglia?
Well, this was almost the case and Jack would have instead been played by Oliver Hudson.
Oliver currently stars in Splitting Up Together with Jenna Fischer, but he came close to starring alongside Mandy Moore!
While chatting on The Ladygang podcast, Oliver revealed that he had auditioned for the role and was invited to do a chemistry read with Mandy. But, as things go, he ended up missing out on the opportunity... all because of a fishing trip?
Yep, he says the story of missing out on the show will tell you just how much he loves to fish.
He explained that he missed the chemistry read because he had a big trip planned, and he just wasn't willing to miss it:
"I had a 10-day fishing trip planned. It's my life! Fishing is a big part of my life and it was this 10-day fishing trip and my agent says, ‘We have to test, and they really like you, and this, this, and that.' And I said, ‘Oh. I'm supposed to go on a fishing trip'… And he's like, ‘Ok, yea…so? I mean this is a big thing.' And I said, ‘You know what? I'm going to do my fishing trip, so…'"
Well, as much as we love you Oliver, I think it's safe to say everything happens for a reason... right?
I mean, the chemistry between Mandy and Milo is just SO real that it is hard to imagine anyone else being able to recreate that kind of romance. Mandy and Milo just have that bond that makes you want them to date in real life! Even if Mandy is totally about to get married to someone else...
But Oliver, do you regret it at all?! I mean, This Is Us is one of the biggest shows on TV right now! Or was that 10-day fishing trip totally worth it?
