Selena Gomez is reportedly seeking treatment after suffering an alleged mental breakdown. According to multiple reports, and People magazine, the 26-year-old “Wolves” singer was hospitalized twice within the last few weeks, both times for a low white blood cell count, which can be a side effect for kidney transplant patients.
People magazine reports that during one of her visits, she reportedly suffered a panic attack.
“She has had a tough few weeks and the panic attack in the hospital was the tipping point,” a source told the magazine. “She realized she needed to seek additional help for her ongoing emotional issues,” People adds. “She’s surrounded by close family and has a lot of support. She’s doing better now and is seeking treatment on the East Coast.”
The news comes after Gomez opened up about taking a step back from social media and as she works on the follow-up album to 2015’s Revival.
“As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given,” she previously said. “Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember— negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings. Obvi.”
Our thoughts go out to Gomez and we wish her a speedy and healthy recovery!
