California's ex-Secretary of State, Alex Padilla, made history as California's first Latino U.S. Senator!
Alex Padilla has replaced Vice President Kamala Harris' seat in the U.S. Senate, making him the first-ever Latino to represent California.
Padilla was sworn into office by the woman he replaced - Vice President Kamala Harris, alongside newly-elected Georgia Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock.
The 47-year-old Senator is from Pacoima in the San Fernando Valley and is an MIT graduate.
