Los Angeles County made history Wednesday night when state Senator Holly J. Mitchell was elected to the board's Second District, wining against L.A. City Councilman Herb Wesson.
That means five women: Sheila Kuehl, Janice Hahn, Hilda Solis, Kathryn Barger and Holly J. Mitchell will sit on the county’s Board of Supervisors for the first time since its inception 168 years ago as the result of a Tuesday election. Isn't this amazing!?
According to the Los Angeles Times, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors is considered the country’s most powerful local governmental group and has been dubbed the “the five little kings” up until now. Can we say "the five little queens"?
Congratulations, Holly J. Mitchell.
