The city of Ontario is putting empty parking lots to use!
What was once an empty parking lot at Ontario International Airport will now serve as a drive-in movie theater. The city and airport made the announcement today (June 11).
The very first hosted drive-in movie will be June 19, 2020! The airport will install two massive 50-foot screens that will show movies on four separate evenings. Moviegoers will be able to tune in through an FM radio signal. Isn't that amazing?
Admission is free! The event comes as a collaboration between the airport, the city of Ontario and Los Angeles-based Street Food Cinema.
The series at Ontario airport will run for four nights and admission is free, though people are asked to bring donations of canned or boxed food for local food banks.
Here are the scheduled films:
- June 19: “Ford v Ferrari” (sold out)
- July 3: “The Sandlot”
- July 17: “Princess Bride”
- July 31: “Napoleon Dynamite”
Every showing begins at 8:30 p.m. There will be several food vendors on site as well.
Moviegoers can reserve their spot in advance by visiting movie-on-terminal-way.com
