Orange County Is Offering Couples Pop-Up Marriage Services at Honda Center

Were your wedding plans affected by Covid-19? The Honda Center in Orange County may be here to help you.

KTLA reports that the arena is offering the option to obtain marriage licenses and partake in civil marriage ceremonies starting this Friday (04/17/2020). The Honda Center's decision comes over many couples' wedding plans were being altered/affected amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

KTLA continues that the Orange County Clerk-Recorder Department is offering the services to couples whose marriage appointments were postponed due to closures and stay-at-home orders, according to the department’s Thursday news release. The Clerk Recorder’s offices closed to the public back in March 17 do to stay-at-home orders.

The marriage services will be available by appointment only at the Honda Center (address 2695 E. Katella Ave / corner of Katella Avenue and South Douglass Road) from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Starting Monday, April 20th, those seeking to get a marriage license can call the department's Marriage Service Hotline at 714-834-2740 to make an appointment. KTLA adds that couples are to complete their marriage license application on the county recorder’s website before calling the hotline, and both individuals must be on the phone when making the appointment.

According to the county recorder's website, there will only be 60 appointments per day and strict social distancing guidelines will be implemented. Staff will be inside booths to ensure that a protective barrier exists between them and the couples getting married.

KTLA adds that only the couple can be present and no guests. For those seeking a public marriage license and a ceremony, only the couple and one witness may be present. For those looking to obtain a confidential marriage license and have a ceremony performed, only the couple can be present and no guests.
