LAX is one of the worst airports in the world according to Fodor’s inaugural Travel Awards.
Not the just the worst airport in California, or even the worst airport in the country, but the worst airport in the WORLD.
Traffic plays a major role in this ranking. We've all experienced it.... design of its catastrophic horseshoe motor-loop. Yeah it takes forever to get through LAX. The Los Angeles International Airport is also always under construction.
“One day the construction will end. And, one day, there will be a people-mover that will connect the yet-to-be-open Crenshaw Metro Line to the airport,” Fodor's editors said in their press release, “But until then, LAX has earned a spot at the top of our Worst Airports list – and we’re loathing it.”
On the other side of town -- in the Valley -- the Hollywood-Burbank Airpot formerly known as Bob Hope Airport – is named the BEST airport in the world.
Southern California is home to BOTH the best and worst airports in the world. So what makes Burbank's airport so different from LAX?
Its accessibility and mellow hassle-free experience. It includes affordable parking, has easy shuttle access, the Metrolink Station is walking distance. As well, its actually closer in distance to downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, and other popular attractions.
“Burbank is an airport free of most of the hassles that take the fun out of travel plans,” Fodor’s managing editor Rachael Levitt said in a news release. “It’s an agreeable airport in a perfect location, which is why it’s at the top of our list of airports to love.”
