San Diego is Testing Autonomous Drone Deliveries

San Diego was selected by the U.S Department of Transportation to test run autonomous, commercial drone activity. So what does that mean for you? Food and other package deliveries will get to you much faster than ever before. It is also testing ways to enhance border security!

The announcement was made Wednesday that the city was selected to participate in its experimental commercial drone program, called the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration Pilot Program.

San Diego was one of 10 winning agencies — and the only California city — selected from a field of 149 city and state applicants. Other winners include Kansas, Virginia and North Dakota and the cities of Reno and Memphis, Tenn.

That means San Diegans will be some of the first in the nation to experience drone-powered conveniences such as food delivery from Uber in minutes.

This is a big leap forward technologically! How do you guys feel this will impact our lives?
