The other day, my brother told me about Teddy’s Red Tacos located at 731 Slauson Ave. I was craving tacos de birria (birria is a Mexican dish from the state of Jalisco. The dish is a spicy stew, traditionally made from goat or shredded beef) so I took the 15 minute drive to South Central Los Angeles.
Growing up, birria was usually only served at big celebrations, baptisms, weddings, quinceaneras. But now more and more restaurants and food trucks are offering this incredible dish!
Teddy from Teddy’s Red Tacos sets up it food truck and picnic tables everyday atop of the train tracks along Slauson.
Teddy's tacos are made with tortillas dipped in consomme and then fried staining them bright red. When those tacos hit your mouth- the tender meat and crispy tortilla – well, it’s heaven in your mouth.
Teddy’s customer service is incredible. The minute you approach the food truck, you forget you are sitting atop train tracks and instead feel like you are inside a 5 star restaurant.
Everyone loves Teddy’s Red Tacos…it has a 5 star rating on YELP!
