An Illinois man has been accused of selling more than 2,000 counterfeit Vicks VapoRub products to stores in the state of Illinois and Wisconsin.
Carlos Barraza, 23, was arrested when private investigator working for Vicks VapoRub tipped off authorities at Cook County Sheriff’s Police department to report the counterfeits.
The investigation led them to Dos Hermanos, Barraza’s Bedford Park, an Illinois-based beauty and cosmetics wholesaler and uncovered thousands of counterfeit products.
Barraza was charged with violation of the counterfeit trademark act. He was released and will return to court November 18.
