Full House star Dave Coulier has been diagnosed with an "aggressive" cancer.

PEOPLE reports that Coulier was diagnosed with stage 3 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, after suffering from an upper respiratory infection that caused swelling in his lymph nodes — one area swelling up to the size of a golf ball. His doctors advised him to get the appropriate scans done (CAT and PET), as well as a biopsy, and ultimately, it showed the life-changing diagnosis.

Coulier tells PEOPLE, "Three days later, my doctors called me back and they said, 'We wish we had better news for you, but you have non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and it's called B cell and it's very aggressive.'" He added, "I went from, I got a little bit of a head cold to I have cancer, and it was pretty overwhelming. This has been a really fast roller coaster ride of a journey."

Dave also shared that his bone marrow test came back negative, noting that his cancer is treatable. "At that point, my chances of curable went from something low to 90% range. And so that was a great day," he explained.

And speaking to "The Today Show" about his diagnosis and why he is going public with it, he said, "The one thing that just kept presenting itself to me was to tell other people about it. Talk to them about getting something as simple as pre-screening or a breast exam, mammogram, a colonoscopy or a prostate exam. It’s a really simple thing to do and it can add years to your life.
