Britney Spears will not be involved in a biopic despite recent rumors shut down by the icon herself in a cryptic post shared to Instagram over the weekend.
In August, Page Six reported that the "Womanizer" songstress was gearing up to release a biopic based on her 2023 best-selling memoir, The Woman In Me, with Universal Pictures, filmmaker Jon M. Chu, producer Marc Platt, following an X post highlighting a "secret project". Rather than selecting the cast for the alleged biopic, Spears will be partaking in a "fictional musical" as an "extremely intelligent character."
The "Toxic" hitmaker didn't say much about the forthcoming project, but she did take time to praise Chu, referring to him as "good company." In addition to shutting down rumors of a biopic, Spears' post included an illustration of a girl with two cats created by artist carriedraw on Instagram, possibly alluding to the plot of the musical.
A few days before shinning new light on the project, the artist shared another stunning illustration by carriedraw stating:
"I’m obsessed with this artist’s work !!! I should do children’s books with her !!! Her drawings are done so beautifully, especially with the water coloring !!! So freaking cool !!!"
Information regarding a release date for the alleged fictional musical has yet to be revealed as Spears continues to tease the highly-anticipated project.
