According to KTLA, Southern California Gas Company issued customers a warning saying that their monthly bill is about to go up way up! Due to the “unprecedented cold snap” and other factors, natural gas market prices have more than doubled between December and January, rising 128%. Here's how you can receive assistance paying your gas bill according to SoCalGas,
the Gas Assistance Fund (GAF) may be able to provide you, or someone you know, with a one-time grant for the amount of the gas bill, not to exceed $100.00. These funds are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and eligible customers are able to apply until the funds are depleted.
How to Qualify
To qualify for GAF, you must meet the following requirements:
- The natural gas bill must be in the name of the applicant requesting assistance.
- The bill address must be the applicant’s primary residence.
- The applicant must not apply for more than the maximum GAF allowance for the current program year.
- The applicant must meet the income guidelines listed below:
Number of people in the household: 1-2
Total yearly household income > $36,620
Number of people in the household: 3
Total yearly household income > $46,060
Number of people in the household: 4
Total yearly household income > $55,500
Number of people in the household: 5
Total yearly household income > $64,940
Number of people in the household: 6
Total yearly household income > $74,380
Number of people in the household: 7
Total yearly household income > $83,820
Number of people in the household: 8
Total yearly household income > $93,260
For each additional person in your household, add $9,440 *Includes current household income from all sources before deductions. These income guidelines are effective June 1, 2022 thru May 31, 2023.
