At Least 2 People Stabbed At Target In Downtown LA

According to ABC 7 Los Angeles, a homeless man grabbed a large butcher knife and stabbed 2 people at a Target in DTLA. The homeless man was shot by a store security guard after he stabbed two people, including a 9-year-old boy. The attack occur Tuesday night around 6:20 pm at Target located near Figueroa and 7th streets. According to LAPD Chief Michel Moore, the homeless man entered Target and grabbed a 9-inch blade knife off the shelf, and told a 9-year-old boy in the store he was going to kill him. Chief Moore says:

"he confronted him and told the young boy he was going to stab him and kill him. He repeated that more than once. The young child attempted to flee and leave, ignore him, move away. The suspect without any further provocation suddenly attacked and stabbed this child in the back."

The 9-year-old was injured with a wound on the back of his shoulder. The homeless man continued throughout the store, and found a group of women. He stabbed 1 woman in the chest, she is 25 years old. A store security guard tried to deescalate the situation with a baton, but the homeless man approached him with the knife, resulting in the security guard shooting him in the chest.
