A bike shop owner from Pasadena has teamed up with some major sponsors to host a charity ride that will benefit disabled Armenian cyclists overseas.
Hrach Gevrikyan and his wife founded the Pasadena bike shop, Velo Pasadena, and Hrach have a mission to give back to his roots in his native country of Armenia. So far he's raised hundreds of thousands of dollars throughout the years to support cyclists in Armenia. Hrach also started to shift his focus from shipping bikes, tires, and cycling equipment to Armenia to fundraising for expensive adaptive cycling equipment due Armenians losing limbs during the war that broke out back in 2020.
Hrach has partnered up with the Armenia Fund, Bob Smith Toyota and the Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger to host the special charity ride with a goal to raise funds to sponsor bikes, gear and travel costs for two Paralympic cyclists to compete in the 2022 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival in Slovakia this July.
