Rare 5-Planet Alignment Is Taking Over The Night Sky During June

You might want to try and head to the Griffith Observatory this month because starting Friday, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will be aligned in planetary order.

This has not occurred since December 2004 and the distance between Mercury and Saturn will be smaller this year. If you want to see this occurrence, you'll want to grab some binoculars and make sure to have a clear view of the eastern horizon to spot Mercury at the start of June. As the month progresses, Mercury will become brighter and easier to to along with the rest of the planets and the best time to view the five planets is 30 minutes before sunrise.

Another dope occurrence is the waning crescent moon that will be in alignment between Venus and Mars on June 24th. According to The Old Farmers' Almanac, there will be seven more full moons in 2022 and you can check out the dates below to make sure to catch one!

  1. June 14 - Strawberry moon
  2. July 13 - Buck moon
  3. August 11 - Sturgeon moon
  4. September 10 - Harvest moon
  5. October 9 - Hunter's moon
  6. November 8 - Beaver moon
  7. December 7 - Cold moon
