If you are behind on rent, then you have until March 31st to apply for the state's COVID rent relief program.
The program helps tenants with unpaid rent and utilities from April 1, 2020 through March 31, 2022 for up to 18 months. The landlords are also able to get reimbursed for an eligible renter's unpaid rent.
In order to qualify, the tenants' household income must be at or below 80% of the Area Median Income for their county and must also certify that they suffered financial hardship due to COVID-19. To apply for the rent relief program go to housing.ca.gov and you can also call 833-430-2122 for more information.
