California's COVID-19 Paid Sick Leave Returns!

This morning Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill that would extend paid time off for those who are sick due to COVID-19. The COVID-19 supplemental sick leave will be in effect until the beginning of this fall.

"Keeping people healthy, keeping patrons safe is so important," said Newsom at the signing of the bill which took place at a Bay Area restaurant Wednesday.

The bill applies to businesses with 26 employees or more and will cover those who are unable to work due to COVID-related reasons. Employers will be required to give workers up to two weeks paid time off if they test positive with the virus.

The bill will cover costs starting back from January 1, 2022 until September 30, 2022. Visit KTLA 5 for more info on the bill.
