Dodgers’ Justin Turner On MLB’s Potential ‘Complex’ Quarantine Game Plan

With COVID-19’s pause on sports, leagues are attempting to navigate how to resume games once quarantine lifts and the Dodgers’ Justin Turner shared with Ryan Seacrest on-air on Thursday, April 23, it’s as “complex” as it sounds.

“There’s going to be a lot of moving parts,” Turner shared with Seacrest. “Basically what MLB and the Players Association is going to have to do is rewrite a brand new selective bargaining agreement for this season alone. So getting a date to start is obviously the biggest hurdle and then once we know that, then they’re gonna have to go to work and figure out what a schedule looks like; where teams are going to stay; how it’s going to work and family. Some of these proposals that we’re going to be in Arizona four months quarantined and no family allowed to stay with you so it’s going to be wild. There’s going to have to be sacrifices made but I think everyone wants to make sure we get a season in this year.”

In the mean time, Turner, along with fellow athletes and teams, are doing what they can to help aid during the pandemic.

Justin’s foundation, the Justin Turner Foundation, are working with Los Angeles nonprofit the Dream Center and local restaurants to provide meals to those in need during the pandemic.

The Dodgers, as well as the Dodgers Foundation, are also supporting local COVID-19 relief efforts, teaming up with iHeartMedia to raise money from fans, players and partners to support vulnerable populations who are experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, lack of basic needs and mental health support during this uncertain time.
