Twice in one week! Earlier this week Alessia Cara gave an epic performance at our Los Angeles iHeart Theater and now she's ready to wreck the stage for tonight's festive show. Alessia stopped by the Mercedes-Benz Interview Lounge at KIIS FM's 2018 Jingle Ball Presented By Capital One and gave us all the details on her new album during an interview with Jojo, Jesse Lozano, and Sisanie.
The new album dropped today and can be heard as a coming of age tale. "It's basically an album about the last couple of years of my life - hopefully, everyone's life because I feel like we all go through similar things. I hope everyone who listens can just pull whatever they can from it," she said.
Alessia goes on to tell Jesse that writing music is therapeutic for her and even though she usually spills her soul through her music if ever something is too personal for her, she'll write it, but she won't include it.
It's always refreshing to come across an artist who is so in touch with their music, that you can feel the passion as they perform. Alessia admitted that tears streaming down her face as she recites her songs is nothing new. The emotion is real, hence why she frequently has to contact people beforehand to let them know that they will be playing a role in some of her music.
When asked about her holiday plans this season, Alessia says she's taking a seat and chilling out. She's looking forward to doing nothing, but playing sitting on her computer playing Roller Coaster Tycoon. Apparently, she's pretty bad at Fortnite!
Fun fact - If you happen to be driving around Los Angeles and see a digital billboard of Alessia, know that she was completely surprised when she saw it herself! Apparently, the animated video promoting her new sophomore album, The Pains of Growing, is compiled of outtakes from her music video, Trust My Lonely.
