This is horrible news the 500-acre brush fire in Santa Clarita has resulted in the closure of the 5 Freeway in both directions this is according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that the 9-1-1 system is down at the Santa Clarita station because of a power outage. Calls are being rerouted. Thousands of homes have been evacuated these winds appeared to caused the fire to jump. I hope everyone is safe and no pets are being left behind there is no word when the freeway will re-open but please take an alternate route.
Thomas Fire is at 31,000 acres burned near Ventura with 150 structures destroyed.
Creek Fire is at 1,000 acres burned in Kegel Canyon area above Sylmar .
