5 Things You Didn't Know about Ed Sheeran

posted by KIIS-FM -

1. He was discovered by Jamie Foxx. At the start of his career, Sheeran moved out to LA with no where to live. Foxx was hosting a radio show and met Sheeran who stopped by the station to show Foxx his music. Foxx loved it and offered for Sheeran to stay at his place until he gets on his feet.

2. He almost lost the use of his feet. On vacation in Iceland with his girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn, the two went hiking around a volcano. They went off the hiking track and Sheeran stepped on a thin crust of land that collapsed, and held 200 degree boiling water underneath."I still have post-traumatic stress over it," says Cherry.

3. He has his house guests sign his studio walls. In an interview with Rolling Stone, the artist has pens by his studio wall where he asks anyone whose visited his home in London to sign his wall. The wall has signatures from harry Styles, the Game of Thrones cast, and a special wall for "Legends." "Elton's coming next week and Cherry's cooking, so I'm going to do a legends wall." says Sheeran.

4. He released his first album when he was 13 years old. John and Imogen Sheeran, Ed's parents, didn't let him or his brother watch a lot of TV or play lots of video games. As a result, Ed started playing guitar and writing lyrics. He wrote 14 songs and burned them onto 20 CDs that was his first albumn, "The Spinning Man." Sheeran tells The Mirror, "There are probably 20 copies of Spinning Man in existence and I have 19 of them. I don’t want anyone else to get hold of a copy. Most of the songs were about a girl called Claire. She was my first love when I was 13. It was a very innocent love and we only ever held hands."

5. He had to fight with his record label to put 'Galway Girl,' on his album Divide. In an interview with The Guardian, Sheeran says, "They were really, really against Galway Girl, because apparently folk music isn’t cool. But there’s 400m people in the world that say they’re Irish, even if they’re not Irish. You meet them in America all the time: ‘I’m a quarter Irish and I’m from Donegal.’ And those type of people are going to love it."
