THE FLORA-BAMA’S RESPONSE TO MTV SHOW FLORIBAMA SHORE

For 53 years THE Flora-Bama has been slinging drinks, tossing mullets, entertaining peoplefrom around the world, and hosting live music. Hunkered down smack in the middle of theFlorida/Alabama state line, THE Flora-Bama has survived a fire, several hurricanes, badeconomies, and the worst oil spill in our nation’s history. Yet, we’ve recently learned that MTVand Viacom are using our name and reputation to promote their latest “reality” series, after approaching us in 2013 about the same. We’ve asked them to stop. They’ve refused. As madeclear by the CMT documentary that Viacom aired on THE Flora-Bama in 2014 to millions, thereis only ONE Flora-Bama. Maybe they will listen to you…

MY ORIGINAL BLOG POST:

The “Jersey Shore” franchise is planning its next reality TV show on the "Floribama shore," but NOT in Pensacola as was originally scripted.

Jersey Shore creator Sallyann Salsano will be the executive producer of Floribama Shore, which will air on MTV Today at 9PM on November 27th.

According to MTV, the show is “set in the Florida Panhandle along the beach that stretches all the way to Alabama. ‘MTV Floribama Shore’ is the story of eight Southern kids who come to spend the summer in the hottest beach town on the Gulf Coast, Panama City Beach, to party it up and put the real world on hold for just a little bit longer. But each is armed with incredible life experiences and standing at a crossroads, whether it’s ending a relationship, tasting independence for the first time, or trying to escape the past. This coming of age story captures the very real thrill and angst of being young and trying to figure out the future with a group of people you’ll come to call family.”

Floribama Shore includes eight episodes, which were all shot on or around Panama City Beach back in May of this year. If you remember, producers originally wanted to shoot the show in Pensacola, but the city government and local peeps totally shot it down, so they had to move to Panama City.

The cast includes Aimee Hall, 24, of Perdido, Alabama, as well as residents from Panama City Beach; Tallahassee; Amelia Island; Westminster, South Carolina; Atlanta, Georgia; and Memphis, Tennessee.
