The show has a super important message and was executive produced by Selena Gomez and her mom. They originally picked up the book with intentions to turn it into a show years ago, with Selena as the star, but as time passed, they still wanted to make the show, even as Selena aged out of the role.
We recently saw that Selena got a tattoo with some of the cast members:
And the star of the show, Katherine Langford, just revealed that Selena was the one who encouraged her to get on Instagram - even though Selena herself is not the biggest fan of social media.
Selena pointed out that the show is targeting young adults like me and that [social media] is a good medium to talk directly with those who relate to my character, Hannah.
And with just that simple convincing, Selena once again proves she really is wise beyond her years.
Because sometimes you join social media and connect with fans in that way not for yourself, but for them.
By the way... how soon are they going to confirm a second season of the show??
