The Evolution of Miley Cyrus in Just 8 Pictures!

Miley Cyrus is performing at our 2017 Wango Tango, and we couldn't be more excited! In celebration, let's take a stroll down memory lane and take a look at how far Miley's come!

As a little girl from Tennessee with big dreams, Miley Ray Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus) started her career acting. She starred in the television series "Doc" and the movie Big Fish, but her road to stardom really took off after landing the lead role in Disney television series Hannah Montana

Her Disney sitcom took Miley to new heights of stardom. The Hannah Montana series pumped out a feature film along with five soundtrack albums. However, Miley later signed a 4-year contract with Hollywood Records. Doing this allowed Miley to continue focusing on her acting career, but also helped in keeping herself rooted in her own music. Miley released her EP The Time of Our Lives as a teaser/transitioning album from her Hannah Montana image to where she wanted to go with her music career.

Miley continued to pursue acting, starring in blockbuster movies like Disney's Bolt and The Last Song. However, her focus began to shift to changing her image through music. In attempts of doing so, she released her third studio album Can't Be Tamed, to which she later embarked on the album's following worldwide "Gypsy Heart Tour". After the release of the album, Cyrus also left her record deal with Hollywood Records. Her film The Last Song kept sparked her romantic on-and-off, but long-time relationship with Liam Hemsworth.

In 2011, Miley starred in several movies and shows including "Hotel Transylvania", the independent film "LOL", and even hosting Saturday Night Live for her first time. She also made appearances in music videos as well. Then in 2012, she released a few live backyard music sessions of classics on Youtube. This lead up to the release of her fourth-studio album and her iconic white blonde pixie cut.

Along with her new hair and image, Miley hired new manager, Larry Rudolph, and signed to a new record label (RCA Records). Later on, she dropped her fourth-studio album "Bangerz" in 2013, which included the hit songs "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball". That same year, her infamous VMA performance with Robin Thicke which resulted in a lot of public scrutiny. Miley's Disney image was completely gone, though MTV did name her 2013 Artist of the Year. She followed up in 2014 with her Bangerz tour and an acoustic MTV Unplugged performance that aired January 29th.

2015 came along and MIley began working with Wayne Coyne for her fifth-studio album, which she claims she released when she felt ready. Whilst recording the album, Miley was dating Patrick Schwarzennegger. After starring in the films The Night Before and A Very Murray Christmas, Miley shifted her focus to her music once again. She then hosted the 2015 VMAs, where she revealed that her fifth-studio album "Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz" was available for free streaming via SoundCloud. The album, as described by Miley herself, was experimental, encasing psychedelic pop, psychedelic rock, and alternative pop.

As of today, Miley Cyrus is currently working on her sixth-studio album as well as co-judging on the NBC television series "The Voice". Cyrus has replaced Gwen Stefani as a judge since 2016. After many months of speculation, Cyrus has also confirmed her rekindled relationship with Liam Hemsworth. On October 27, 2016, Cyrus confirmed during an interview with Ellen Degeneres that she and Liam Hemsworth are now engaged.

Through the years, there have only been two things that haven't really changed about Miley: her passion for music and her philantrhopy. Miley has supported several different charities and organizations including Stand Up Against Cancer, the Elton John AIDS Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Music for Relief, United Service Organizations, and many more. She is also featured on charity singles like "Just Stand Up!" and "We Are the World 25 for Haiti".

Cyrus is also the founder of the Happy Hippie Foundation. As a supporter of the LBGTQ community, she says the organization, "works to "fight injustice facing homeless youth, LGBTQ youth and other vulnerable populations".

PETA also named Miley as the Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity of 2015.
