102.7 KIIS FM Jingle Ball presented by Capital One returned to the KIA Forum on Friday (December 2). Holiday spirit was in full swing thanks to a star-studded line-up, including acts like Dua Lipa, Jack Harlow, Pitbull, and more.

Dove Cameron joined us in The Mercedes-Benz Interview Lounge to talk about her experience at KIIS FM's Jingle Ball and her upcoming song 'Girl Like Me'.

KIIS' Jesse Lozano told Dove Cameron that he was essentially blown away by the response from fans for her music, in which she responded that she said it's "such a funny, insular thing" to see people react to a song she's written in real-time.

"I had no idea what to expect," Dove Cameron said of her Jingle Ball experience. "It was amazing."

Of her many "pinch me" moments from the year, Dove Cameron shared that Jingle Ball definitely ranked high for her.

Dove Cameron shared that she never thought she would play a show at the Kia Forum with such a lineup ever in her life and said the experience was unmatched of her.

In her song-writing process, Dove Cameron explains that inspiration and the "seedling of the song" comes in the most unexpected moments. She said if she receives a text that her prompts her to pick up her phone and call somebody to tell them about it then she immediately recognizes it as a potential song moment.

According to Dove Cameron, her new song "Girl Like Me" is an "interpolation" of a song by Edwin Collins titled "Girl Like You". She explained that she has loved Collins "forever" and has wanted to cover his song for a very long time. The idea to spin the song into another perspective as answer to the original is what led her to writing "Girl Like Me".
