The City of Los Angeles has made May the "Mental Health Is Health Month" and has named Jhené Aiko as the official ambassador. On Friday, Aiko accepted the honor at a ceremony at city hall where she talked about her own mental health experiences.
"When I started to write and do music, it was my personal therapy to help me get through things," said Aiko during the ceremony. The "Mental Health Is Health Month" was made in an effort to raise awareness by Councilmember Nithya Raman's office and Didi Hirsch, whom is a leader in suicide prevention and mental health care services.
