Today Apple launched a Self Service Repair Store where customers in the United States are now able to access parts and manuals they can use to repair their own iPhone.
Apple said that they are working on launching a self service repair for Mac's later this year but as of now this store will allow repairs for the users of iPhone SE, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 components which include the display, battery and camera replacements. According to 9to5Mac, you can rent a complete kit of tools for $49 that can be rented for a week and include all the necessary press, screw bits, protective covers and materials you will need to do the repair. Individual tools will also be available to be purchased to keep for yourself.
Pricing for certain parts of the repairs will vary and for most repairs you will be able return the old components back to Apple and receive a partial refund so they can be recycled. For more info on the Self Service Repair Store visit 9to5Mac's website.
