IKEA lovers this one is for you!

IKEA has announced that a new small-format concept will be taking over a storefront at Long Beach Towne Center. It will replace the former location of Red Ball Fun Zone on the eastern edge of the shopping center.

According to The Long Beach Journal, the ready-to-assemble giant announced plans earlier this week to open two "scaled-down" stores in the Los Angeles area. The company has not announced the location for the second but teases it will be finalized soon.

The upcoming IKEA, called planning studios, are reportedly slated to open in spring 2022. According to IKEA's announcement, the Long Beach location is expected to employ 13 to 20 people.

Here's how IKEA's planning studios will work:

  • Customers will not leave planning studios with products. They will instead book appointments to meet with design specialists who will assist them in planning and ordering furniture and decor. Orders are made during the appointment, and products are then delivered to the customer’s home or another delivery point of their choosing.
