Tyson Foods is recalling 8.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat frozen chicken due to possible listeria contamination. This recall was issued after 2 people got sick, and 1 person has died. The full list of products that have been recalled can be found here! According to CBS Los Angeles:
The products that are being recalled have the number “EST. P-7089” on the product bag or inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped nationwide to retailers like Walmart and include frozen, fully cooked chicken strips, diced chicken, chicken wing sections, and fully cooked pizza with chicken sold under brands like Tyson, Marco’s Pizza, and Little Caesars.
Listeria is a bacteria that can be found in water, soil, and in some animals such as poultry, and cattle. If consumed it can cause a food borne illness called listeriosis which is one of the most serious cases of food poisoning.
