3 Adorable Mountain Lion Kittens Born in Santa Monica Mountains

The Santa Monica Mountains welcome three mountain lion kittens, and they are super cute!

ABC7 reports that three mountain lion kittens have been born in the Santa Monica Mountains - the official announcement coming from the National Park Service.

The report states that biologists for the National Park Service believe these three bring genetic diversity into the species' population of the Santa Monica Mountains. They are two male kittens and one female kitten. The biologists also add that the parents are believe to be three-year old mother named P-54 and the father is presumed to be P-63!

Park Service biologists have determined that all three mountain lion kittens appeared healthy, each was given an ear tag to help identify them in the future and returned to the den after samples were taken for genetic testing, ABC7 reports. The kittens were estimated to be 19 days old at the time. So cute!

Additionally, the birth of the 3 kittens marks the 17th litter to be marked at a den site over the course of the long-term study to determine how mountain lions in and around the Santa Monica Mountains survive in an increasingly fragmented and urbanized environment.
