Halsey Dominates the Stage at Wango Tango

East Coast raised female pop artist, Halsey is not only using her voice to captivate a crowd but is also amplifying specific social issues outside of the venues she nationally sells out. With her new album underway, the punk-inspired performer gives her fans a taste of what is to come with her new single, “Nightmare.” This loud and bold ensemble of a music video debuted on May 17th and is still managing to rack up a massive numbers of views as the video has passed over the 20 million threshold. Her showcasing this video was to pay homage to the vast array of powerful women (able-bodied or not) who come in all colors and sizes. This powerful display of videography has set the tone for her upcoming album and reveals to her audience that she is taking a more forceful and grunge approach to show how much strength the everyday woman has.

Following the release of the “Nightmare” music video, Halsey recently performed on The Voice for their finale. Along with other Wango Tango performers: Taylor Swift and the Jonas Brothers, the 24-year-old artist graced the stage with an aerial introduction as she is brought down with a harness to meet up with her dressed in all black girl gang. This fearless opening progresses into a mosh-pit accompanied by all women which is not a common dance number for female performers. Halsey breaks gender molds with her bright red hair and sleeveless masculine attire.

This type of performative energy is expected at iHeartRadio’s Wango Tango musical festival. She is headlining aside the same artists (besides BTS) she was at NBC’s The Voice as many of Halsey’s fans anticipates her first music festival performance in a while. The historical Woodstock festival is being revived for it’s 50 year anniversary and the female punk artist is on their roster for expected performers. Wango Tango’s Halsey live debut will be just as exciting as her previous performances have been on stage especially with her new look which remains true to Halsey’s ever-changing but consistently modernized grunge image.
