Assemblymember Santiago Honored Me As Woman of the Year

Every year, The California State Assembly hosts a Woman of the Year celebration to honor women throughout California for their incredible achievements and contributions.

March is of course Women's History Month and I was blessed to join 79 other inspiring women at the California State Capitol for a very special day. I am beyond excited to announce that this weekend, I received an honorary award from Assemblymember Santiago of the 53rd Assembly District.

Woman of the Year. I was named the 2019 Woman of the Year by Assemblymember Santiago and I can't put into words how grateful I am. The award highlights an individual for "using her business and entrepreneurial expertise to inspire others to give back to their community."

Here is what Assemblymember Santiago said when he presented me with this award:

It is my distinct privilege to welcome someone who has had such a significant impact on the lives of so many in my district. Patty stands up and speaks out when the world tells her to sit down and shut up. Her endless persistence, hard work and creativity are an inspiration and I am proud to present her with this award.

Thank you much, Assemblymember Santiago:

This is for my people. I have faced many negative stereotypes in the industry, but I have stayed persistent to myself, my family and my people. I am a Mexican-American gal born in East Los Angeles to Mexican immigrant parents and I hope to continue to be a role model in my community and a voice of hope for many.

It’s crazy to think that Lil’ Libros was a simple idea between my best friend Ariana and I…we wanted to give children books that are bilingual, while honoring icons from my culture, and now it is all a reality. Follow your dreams...always. A HUGE shout-out to Ariana Stein.

I will cherish this forever and with that said, I want to thank everyone who has supported Lil' Libros, MALA and On Air With Ryan Seacrest. #SinMiedo
