Janet Jackson (Miss Jackson if you're nasty) is not only known for her record breaking sales and award winning professional endeavors, she's also known for her gentle, soft spoken voice. While visiting KIIS FM in LA, iHeartRadio introduced Janet to the world of ASMR as she (quietly) opened up about her new song 'Made For Now' with Daddy Yankee, potential collaborations with some popular artists, her favorite places to visit in Los Angeles and more! All while tapping and delivering some of the most popular triggers ASMR lovers look for.
For those unfamiliar, ASMR stands for 'Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response.' Over the past couple years the AMSR community has grown exponentially online, specifically on YouTube. According to Dictionary.com, the slang definition is as follows:
(ASMR) is a calming, pleasurable feeling often accompanied by a tingling sensation. This tingle is said to originate in a person’s head and spread to the spine (and sometimes the limbs) in response to stimulation. The stimuli that trigger ASMR vary from person to person. Some of the most common ones include whispers, white noise, lip smacking, having a person’s complete attention (as in having one’s hair cut by a hairdresser), and more.
On the topic of Janet's new collaboration 'Made For Now' with latin music sensation Daddy Yankee, she details that her favorite lyric is "Love is in the rhythm, now we're dancing with a whole new meaning. Love is on it's way to fill you up, we're made for now not tomorrow." She also reveals that her favorite part about working with Daddy Yankee, is just being able to be with him. He's described by the 'Feedback' singer as having a beautiful 'soul' and 'spirit' while being pleasant to be around.
Up-and-coming artists on the 5 time Grammy winning performer's radar include Daniel Caesar, H.E.R, and SZA. In terms of collaborating with any artists, Janet revealed that her and Bruno Mars have often discussed coming together to create music but they haven't yet had the opportunity due to timing. Bruno would be an interesting collaboration prospect for her because:
He can fit right into my family. He looks like one of my nephews exactly. He reminds me of my family. And I enjoy his music. I think he's very talented.
After revealing that one of her go-to food options is sushi, Janet also gave a shout out to Nobu as her favorite spot to grab a bite in Los Angeles and noted that her favorite place to hang out in LA is her 'bed.'
