The Thrive in Joy Nick Fagnano Foundation honors the life of Nick Fagnano by encouraging and rewarding character through education and recreation.
Nick Fagnano (November 23, 1993- July 27, 2014), was a remarkable young man who was known for his strong character, kindness, joy, faith and love of life. On a sunny Sunday afternoon at Venice Beach, Nick left his friends sitting on the sand to go down to the ocean and rinse off. Within moments of entering the ocean, a freak lightning strike occurred shooting bolts into the water instantly killing Nick. No one on the beach including the lifeguards could have foreseen this 1 in 10 million occurrance. Nick's parents, Mary and Jay, in seeking a way to insure that Nick's goodness continues to radiate upon this earth, have established the Foundation to:
1) Support several projects in the Dominican Republic that provide vulnerable children in this country with better opportunities for their future
2) Provide a scholarship to an incoming transfer student (just as Nick would have been) to USC's Price School of Public Policy
