The Duck-A-Thon began life in 1992. The original concept was a rubber duck race from HB Pier back to the beach with people buying ducks for a chance to win prizes. Thanks to a creative and dedicated group of volunteers, the event has picked up its own momentum. It has evolved from a duck race into a weekend long festival which (literally) turns the surf yellow every May, and draws thousands of locals and visitors. To date, it has raised over $2.9 million to care for needy families.
