Did The Simpsons Predict The Toys R Us Closure?

The internet and fans of "The Simpsons" are freaking out over what seems to be another accurate prediction from the animated show.

The Simpsons has a reputation of being very prophetic. The show has predicted Donald Trump's presidency, Disney's purchase of Fox and even Lady Gaga's half-time show.

Well fans have resurfaced a clip from a 2004 episode of "The Simpsons" titled “Marge vs. Singles, Seniors, Childless Couples and Teens, and Gays." In the episode, the adults of Springfield decide to destroy all things kid-friendly and fun. In the clip below, you can watch the adults of Springfield deface the sign of a Toys R Us store by turning the signature backward “R” in the proper direction

Watch the clip below:

It’s not an exact prediction, but hey, it’s close enough to keep the running joke about how The Simpsons writers have predicted many future events.

People on Twitter of course reacted:

While the episode didn't actually mention Toys R Us shutting its doors for good, some fans are convinced that the show's writers magically knew about the closing. Crazy that this was more than a decade ago, and is now very relevant. Earlier this month, the toy chain announced the liquidation of all it's stores.

I think this is so cool! I want to see what else the show has predicted.
