Sofia Carson Shares How She Landed Her Role In "Descendants"

Our girl Sofia Carson always knew she wanted to perform and thank goodness she followed that gut feeling because she is KILLING it. If you were wondering how she landed her role in Disney Channel's "Descendants" listen to this.

That particular year she went on 200 auditions. While she was auditioning for Disney Channel show "Liv and Maddie" she actually received a call to read for a movie Disney Channel was producing.

Sofia said, “I walked into the room, and Kenny Ortega was there, which to me was crazy because he’s absolutely iconic." Following the audition, she was sure she thought she was going to get the part, but they turned her down after believing she was too green for the role.

She kept auditioning for a month and then got called for a lead in a Disney Channel movie. It was the SAME role she was originally turned down for. Things really just started to fall into place for Sofia! She was cast as Evie and that following week she was signed to Republic Records and Hollywood records.

Sofia shares, “There’s a certain magic to this world. It’s a combination of preparation—preparing as much as you physically can—passion, luck and a little bit of pixie dust, and timing.”

She's PROOF to keep following your dreams even when you're told no! Sofia is now starring in Freeform's Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists! Catch her Wednesdays at 8pm. ♥️
