3 Things I Learned From Watching This Year's LA Marathon

So I went to watch the LA Marathon from 2 different spots yesterday and I met some amazing people. But all in all the LA Marathon made me realize some things….

  1. GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY! I met this amazing man (Greg) who was telling me about his girlfriend that was running the marathon. He said she’d been wanting to run it for years but kept coming up with excuses as to why she couldn’t. She finally committed & trained this year & it made me realize just how often we get in our own heads about so many things we want to do in our lives.
  2. HUMANS ARE AMAZING! I met a really cute couple that was down by the running path.. they didn’t know anyone running in the race but they made their way down to cheer people on. They basically were taking their own time out of a Sunday to encourage, cheer, and support others!!!!
  3. THERE’S STRENGTH IN NUMBERS! A lot of people ran the marathon solo.. or in pairs.. but I noticed the people that were running in bigger groups had the biggest smiles on their faces. I watched what looked like a father running & pushing his son in a wheelchair… they were surrounded by a big group / support system and they were all hooting and hollering and looked like they were really enjoying themselves.
