Since Demi Lovato has released the first two episodes of her documentary on YouTube - Dancing With The Devil - we have learned SO much more about her and specifically her journey the last few years since her overdose.
Now, Demi has opened up even more about her plans for expanding her family in the future.
PEOPLE reported about Demi's conversation on a podcast about how she hopes to adopt in the future, and she explained why she sees that as the path she will take when it comes time for her to have a family of her own.
When asked if she wanted to have children of her own some day, Demi explained that she used to want that, but she has changed her thinking on it:
"I don't know, I was engaged to a man last year... I totally thought that I'd be married, maybe pregnant, by now. And that's not the case ... I know that my life is not going according to my plan."
She then continued about how life doesn't always go according to plan or according to the timeline you have set in your mind for yourself.
"Life doesn't go according to any plan. So, I could sit here and say, 'Yes, I would love to have children.' But I don't know, because that might change next week. I think in this moment, I want to adopt, for sure."
Reminding ourselves that life doesn't always go according to the plans you've made is important! And to hear Demi be honest about that makes it easier to think, "same! Not everything went with the timeline I planned."
Demi has also recently opened up more about her sexuality and came out as pansexual, so she explained that is part of her desire to adopt in the future.
"I also don't know if I'm going to end up with a guy, so I can't really see myself even getting pregnant... I don't know.I'm so fluid now, and a part of the reason why I am so fluid is because I was super closeted off."
I am so happy for Demi and how open she has been able to be with herself and everyone around her. It's clear she has come SUCH a long way in the past couple of years.
