Halsey Shares How Pregnancy Has 'Leveled' Her Perception Of Gender

102.7 KIIS FM Jingle Ball ā€“ PRESS ROOM

Over the years Halsey has made it clear how excited she is to having children in the future, and it makes me SO excited for her that she is currently pregnant.

She announced the news at the end of January with a sweet post showing off her growing baby bump, captioning it simply, "surprise!" along with a couple emojis. Now she's sharing more on Instagram about how her pregnancy has impacted her daily life - and her view of gender.

In a recent post, Halsey talked about how she has been spending this last month thinking a lot about her body and how it's "strange to watch yourself change so quickly."

She also went on to share that while she thought this time in her life would make her feel specific thoughts about her "womanhood", that actually isn't what has happened.

She wrote: "I thought pregnancy would give me very strong, binary feelings about ā€œwomanhoodā€ but truly it has leveled my perception of gender entirely."

She also shares what she has been up to during this unique time - not only being pregnant, but being pregnant during a pandemic where she hasn't been able to tour or perform for a year.

"I cook a lot, sleep even more, and read lotssss of books. I miss my family. And you guys too!"

In the comments, she elaborated more about how this feeling is "liberating"

"I thought there would be a lot of expectation or pressure on me to wake up everyday [sic] feeling like some 'girly-girly fertility goddess', but instead I wake up and eat when I'm hungry, sleep when I'm tired, and focus on growing a human. And that is all I expect myself to do. Liberating!"

And I totally understand. We all put a lot of pressure on ourselves day in and day out, but when you're pregnant, the only thing that is really the most important is making sure you take care of yourself and your baby.

I know what the magic of motherhood is like, and I'm so excited for Halsey to experience it. Plus, I LOVE that we are pregnant at the same time right now! I ran into her years ago when the twins were just a couple months old and she was soooo sweet to them. She will be the best mom!
