If you've ever had a baby, you know just how chaotic those first couple of months can be. Heck, my twins are 19 months old and it's still chaotic! Some days more than others.
And when you already have a kid at home, and then welcome yet another baby into the home, like Ellie Kemper just did, things are even more insane at home. Or as Ellie calls it, "delirious."
Ellie recently revealed that she had not only entered a sleep deprivation phase... but that she had woken up to an online shopping cart full of items she has no recollection of adding.
"You're completely delirious... They will say [people] take sleeping pills and do that, but this is not a sleeping pill. It's just sleep deprivation."
And I can definitely relate to that feeling of being delirious. It just happens. It doesn't matter how many kids you have... one, two, six? There's just a LOT happening all the time when you have a new baby at home.
And if you're wondering how to keep your kids busy, especially in these winter months when you can't entertain them outside, Ellie says its all about keeping them busy and always having something for them to do.
Her 3-year-old has recently gotten really into watercolor:
"Lately he's been painting a lot, not professionally but ... watercolor, and painting."
On top of that, he loves to play on the typewriter:
"Just seeing the words come up on the paper is so satisfying for him. It is satisfying. I relate to that."
As for how Ellie deals with the most hectic moments at home, she says it's all about taking things 10 seconds at a time.
"Everything is a phase, and that does harken back to Kimmy Schmidt for me, cause one of her favorite mantras was just to take it 10 seconds at a time... There's such, I think, profound wisdom in that. That nothing lasts forever, that things change, and it might be a difficult moment or a stressful moment or a trying moment, but it will pass."
If that isn't the advice that will get you through the holidays, I'm not sure what will!
