Apparently Eating Ice Cream For Breakfast Makes You More Intelligent

Ever wake up with a big craving for ice cream?

Okay, not necessarily. But apparently that's what you should be doing, according to scientists in Japan who claim that eating ice cream for breakfast can make you more intelligent.

The experiment to see if this really works was done by Yoshihiko Koga, a professor at Kyorin University in Tokyo, and had subjects eat three spoonfuls of ice cream first thing in the morning. After eating the ice cream, they then had to use a computer to complete a number of mental exercises.

Turns out Professor Koga found those who ate the ice cream, as opposed to those who did not, were better at processing information.

My initial thought was that the coldness of the ice cream is what made the subjects more alert and able to process faster and better - but Professor Koga tested that theory as well. He tried the same experiment with cold water, and found that the results were NOT the same.

While people who had the cold water showed some level of increased mental performance and alertness, the effect was not as obvious as with the ice cream.

Now the issue is, sure the ice cream first thing in the morning might make you "more intelligent" butttt what is that doing to your body and your metabolism? I can't imagine ice cream is any better for you than eating a sugary cereal first thing in the morning. If you think about it, it's just dairy and a lot of sugar...

But if you're ever in need of a big boost early in the morning, maybe the best route is to take a couple bites of ice cream before officially starting your day, right?!

Seems like a good solution for special occasions, just not for every day life.
