Ever had a professor or some sort of authority figure who wanted to speak to your parents? But you really did not want your parents to speak to this person because it would get your in trouble?
Enter: rented parents.
Yep, that's officially a thing in certain parts of the world, and the idea is actually genius.
It doesn't just have to be for people trying to get you in trouble - it can also be used in situations where someone you're dating wants to meet your parents, but you really don't want to open that can of worms.
In China, the concept of rented boyfriends or girlfriends is a thing, where people offer up their acting services to appease parents and relatives or stand in as a date for an event, so rented parents really aren't that far off!
People post ads looking for a rented parent "just to make a phone call to my teacher" or "have a meal with my girlfriend."
And some of these acting as fake parents say it's not just for the money, but also to help others at a time in need!
This is brilliant - but I also hope my kids never get wind of the idea and rent someone to stand in for me...
