Lady Gaga Just Won the 2019 Met Gala in 4 Transformational Most Extra Looks

Oh and you thought she was done! Lady Gaga shut down the 2019 Met Gala red carpet on Monday, May 6, by transforming her 25-foot fuchsia custom Brandon Maxwell gown into a total of four different looks.

Going along with the evening’s exhibition “Camp: Notes on Fashion” — a nod to Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay “Notes on ‘Camp’” — Gaga was the most extra, drawing on the theme of silly and sublime. ICYMI, Susan Sontag's 1964 essay defines camp as "love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration."

She made an entrance by walking into the gala with designer Brandon Maxwell, five umbrella-wielding dancers, her beloved makeup artist Sarah Tanno, her hair stylist and a personal photographer.

Her first look consisted of a fuchsia cape-like gown with a 25-foot train and matching bow atop her blonde locks. After her crew of dancers fanned out her train and paraded around her, she stole the show not once, but three times after by slowly debuting a series of looks.

Removing her fuchsia gown, she showed off a black strapless custom Maxwell gown before also shedding another layer to display a hot pink ‘90s spaghetti strap dress complete with a retro cell phone and oversized glasses.

In true "Camp" and Gaga form, her final look brought her down to her skivvies and signature 10-inch platform heels.

Maxwell and Gaga have been collaborating on looks together for over 10 years. The designer is also responsible for her infamous meat dress at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.

“@LadyGaga pulled off the ultimate over the top moment by walking from 84th and Madison to the steps of the #MetGala with five dancers, makeup artist Sarah Tanno, and her personal photographer on hand to capture every move in a brilliant live performance,” Vogue perfectly summed up her entrance to the gala.
