'LA Originals' on Netflix Explores The Lives & Art Of Two Chicano Legends

Like most Angelenos I've had a lot more time on my hands to binge-watch countless shows on Netflix, Hulu, HBO NOW, and Disney Plus.

One particular documentary that really resonated with me was LA Originals on Netflix.

LA Originals celebrates the lives of two prominent Chicano creatives who were both born and raised in the City of Angels— Mister Cartoon, a master artist; and Estevan Oriol, an iconic photographer and director.

Both Angelenos turned their passions into successful careers when they began creating album covers, music videos for mainstream artists, and running their tattoo parlour in Skid Row.

I've been a fan of Cartoon and Oriol for years, mainly because as a young Latina it's inspiring and refreshing to see other Latinos not only pushing boundaries but breaking barriers in industries that aren't necessarily built for us to flourish in.

The sense of cultural pride that both Cartoon and Oriol exude is not only relatable but contagious.

Check out LA Originals now streaming on Netflix.
