CBS Los Angeles reports that the Santa Monica Pier will remain closed on weekends through the month of January, to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The report adds that the world-famous pier will temporarily be closed January 16-18 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday; January 23-24; and January 30-31.
The Santa Monica Pier has been opened for many months now, with the attractions (rides) being closed and with limited hours.
CBS adds that according to a city statement, officials believe the best way to slow the spread of COVID-19 is to stay home as much as possible and the closure is part of meeting this need.
