LAUSD Announces Tentative Plans For Sports Conditioning to Begin Nov. 2

Los Angeles Unified School District has announced that athletes and coaches will be allowed to begin voluntary sports conditioning at school sports facilities starting Monday November 2. The announcement comes according to tentative plans released last Thursday by athletics coordinator Trent Cornelius during a videoconference with athletic directors, the Los Angeles Times reports.

According to the report, all athletes and coaches are required to pass a mandated COVID-19 test in order to be allowed on campus. LAUSD has to approve the tryouts and conditioning locations; i.e. using fields and outdoor courts, etc.

The LAUSD athletics coordinator Trent Cornelius emphasized that this is a "preview, not necessarily the action plan that is ready to be rolled out."

One aspect of sports is transportation (school bus); Cornelius said a maximum of 13 passengers can be allowed on a bus for a game.

The report adds that coaches will not be paid for holding tryouts or conditioning sessions next month because they are voluntary.
